MYM & RDP partnerships
Where it all started and how it continues today!
The Move Your Mood (MYM) program began in 2011 as a collaboration between Alberta Health Services (now Recovery Alberta) and the Red Deer College Psychology Department (now Red Deer Polytechnic). The initiative started with a knowledge café, a literature review, and two research projects — the second of which was published in the Journal of Psychology (see link below to read).
Following the completion of this research, the MYM program truly came to life and has continued to grow ever since!

Today, the MYM program maintains a strong partnership with Red Deer Polytechnic. Together, we conduct research projects, provide valuable volunteer opportunities for students, co-lead workshops and community events, and create inspiring motivational stories and books.

new partnership formed with the red deer Polytechnic English department
The Move Your Mood (MYM) and the Red Deer Polytechnic English Department have created a unique partnership where students in children’s literature courses take part in meaningful community
service-learning projects. Across several courses, they’ve collaborated with MYM to craft engaging stories that are now shared in the MYM Studio and at the Sheldon Kennedy Centre of Excellence.
These projects allow students to apply what they’ve learned in class while creating stories that inspire MYM participants to move their bodies, fuel their bodies, practice mindfulness, and expand their minds — the four pillars of the MYM program.
